Ever since I was little I have loved dogs. In Ireland, my family always kept Wire Fox Terriers. There was Bobby, Mossy, Shan, Robbie, Sammy, Jessie and now Jack. While living in Paris I fell in love with Scottish Terriers, so when I moved to L.A. I just had to have one. His name is Angus. He's incredible. The love of my life. Angus needed a friend, so I found a beautiful girl named Marnie. A rescue. I think she's a Jack Russell, Pit Bull mix and she is the real, true lover of our family. Dogs are all that is pure, sweet, kind and fun. They're the symbol of love in my life. Even my Chinese horoscope sign is the dog! And now painting them is such a joy. Sure I love dogs, but I also love cats, horses, birds and really all animals.
In my paintings, I strive to bring out a dog's feelings of love - their devotion and admiration. It's really not hard when it's written all over their beautiful faces.
My portraits are painted oil on canvas. The smallest size takes about a week to finish and then there's a brief "drying time". Oil takes time to fully dry. I also paint with acrylic on canvas. This will dry faster and can look just as rich and beautiful.
Commission a dog portrait as a gift for a loved one, as a memorial to a lost friend, or as an expression of your love for your pet. I can also paint you with your dog. If you have more than one, it can be a group portrait. I work from photographs. The more photos, the better. This helps me capture your dog's unique personality. I can paint as large or as small as you like. I also work on round or oval canvases. If you already have a frame that you want used, just tell me the dimensions.
